 In our news section we try to keep you up to date with important business issues and what is going on here at the office in North Devon. KVA are involved with a number of projects from various different backgrounds, with differing requirements and workloads. We have a number of clients, some of which we purely offer bookkeeping services to, some clients have purchased Quickbooks from us and had some training, but most have liked what we do and have asked to have more management reports and feedback from us, and others have regular meetings with advice or mentoring to ensure a healthy and profitable future for their business.

The FSB is Britain's largest business organisation representing the self-employed and small businesses providing feedback and lobbying to local council and government on behalf of all small businesses.
One of the best forms of advertising for your company is a personal recommendation so start networking! Our local branch of The Federation of Small Businesses have monthly meetings in Bideford where local small business people can get together for a networking breakfast. There are similar events arranged across the country. There are larger events throughout the year too, many offer training and advice, talks and guidance, some are purely social for you to meet up with other business people and make useful contacts, as well as promoting yourself. KVA have been involved with the FSB for some time and work alongside other members to offer support, arrange events or give talks for our local branch. VAT Inspections.....
Please ensure your accounting records are kept up to date to prevent any mistakes. VAT inspections occur regularly, the officer will discuss your business with you, then, possibly take a look around the premises or check how you deal with stock or deliveries before examining the records. There will be no further action if the accounting is all done correctly, however if there are any issues involving inadequate or incorrect records these will be discussed directly with you. We can provide a complete business health check or just simple training in how to keep accurate records for a worry free VAT inspection.
Management reports and advice for a Local Country Pub....
For some time KVA worked closely with a busy local country pub to help the owners fully understand the financial aspect of running your own business. The owners were referred to us for bookkeeping purposes, however we also provide management reports, profit and loss analysis and support, we liaised with the owners accountants for tax and VAT returns. Any work done here in the office could easily be transferred onto the pubs own copy of Quickbooks to enable the owners to see exactly how their business is doing.

KVA have been recommended to assist with the set up of a business based in Saudi Arabia, this will be a new subsidiary company, from another large organisation that Kevin is currently working with, Kevin will be responsible for accounting, administration systems, banking and ensuring control of the money from afar.

KVA have been providing mentoring support and guidance to a business owner with a company set up as a distributor selling goods to the leisure market in the UK. Monthly meetings are held to discuss performance and activity of the previous month and to effectively plan ahead for the following month, looking at marketing, seasonality, figures and management reports. Business plans are also put into place looking ahead into the future concerning promotions, seasons, finance and accounts.
